Near-Optimal Low-Complexity Harmonic Receiver for Unipolar-FSK

In this letter, we propose a near-optimal low-complexity frequency-domain (FD) harmonic receiver for visible light communication based unipolar frequency-shift keying (U-FSK). The time-domain (TD) maximum-likelihood (ML) U-FSK is computationally complex, while the sub-optimal increases noise variance. proposed determines transmitted frequency from cross-correlations between FD received waveform and dictionary waveforms reduced to their strongest harmonics. results shall demonstrate that besides affording linerarithmic complexity, performance of closely approaches TD ML which exhibits quadratic complexity.
